It's a worry

Yesterday I was photographing the wedding of Lisa and Kevin at Derwent Manor in Northumberland and I finally worked out what had been nagging at me for a while.

I have noticed that something has changed with weddings since I started doing them 7 years ago. The parents of the happy couple are starting to not look like parents... they are starting to look like my friends.

Parents at weddings were always easy for me to spot because they were the older people in suits etc. However, more and more these days I am approaching people with a hand shake saying 'hi you must be the best man' to be corrected and told they are the father of the groom.

Today we celebrate my son's 13th birthday and I have realised that the parents are not getting younger.... I am getting older !!!

How did this happen so suddenly!! How long before couple start saying 'yeah we got this great photographer, an old guy from the North East'!
